London Fashion Week - 2013

London Fashion Week - This is where I get all my inspiration and ideas from. The ideas help towards the designs I like to look into with reinventing clothing.
It is all about the colour and materials. Plenty of designers clothing which is seen down the catwalks show plenty of detail however at extremely expensive prices, I believe in recycling what you already have or lower cost clothing which can be developed.

Beetle work

Garment made by myself and others. The theme of the garment was inspired round beetles. The whole thing is made up of old sports wear. We decided to take the hoods and stuff them with stuffing allowing it to create shape. In this photograph I was put forward to model. We wanted to create it extremely dark looking and getting shadow from the surroundings lights. It was all about movement with the photoshoot and we ended up creating a short flick through film.

Julien Macdonald

New inspirational designs from vogue fashion week. Julien Macdonald designed a dramatic, floaty garment which looks extremely inspirational with the styling of the model. I like how they have made her hair sleeked back along with the dark make up.

Charity Clothing

I want to be able to take any sort of charity clothing and recycle it to recreate something else. Using the hyperculture and heritage trends, I will be able to create designs on trend. Charity clothing along with old clothing from peoples wardrobes can be reused and created into something else. I will also be able to show this using my visual merchandising window display, putting in books and videos showing how I created them.

Color Blocking

The use of colour blocking is the new trend, I like the use of mixing several different colours. Most celebrities today do so and it works well.
My most favourite block colour at the moment is the emerald green, its very dramatic yet classy. Although it is being worn with several different colours it allows it to be seen creatively.

Recycled fashion

I will be looking into recycled fashion as part of my final major project. I want to take charity clothing and re invent them to on trend garments. I will be looking into heritage and hyperculture trends to get inspiration.

Visual Merchandising

Visual Merchandising is my inspiration. I want to be able to display my work with using these tools.
I would like to create a display which would show off teaching methods. This will help me reflect on my experiences throughout the fashion industry. I have been able to take in so much skill through working in retail along with working along side workers within the industry. They have managed to help me understand more behind fashion along with how window displays are put together. They are either based on the theme or trend along with colour and texture.

Teaching

My future is about teaching. I would love to be able to inspire others to have I feel about Fashion. Being able to give others my knowledge of fashion and what I feel about it and how it has changed my life would be a great achievement. Some people believe that fashion isn’t a important subject however I believe that fashion involves all sort of subjects and expresses peoples creativity. Without fashion there would be no trends, cat walks etc. Behind fashion there are plenty of techniques that can be used and I believe these are important within the industry development. Everything I know about fashion I would like to pass on, I believe blogging is like a diary and helps me reflect on different areas which inspire me. These therefore help me reflect on what to pass on.

Hyperculture

In todays society, fashion is all about re inventing clothing from existing clothes or charity items. I like how the hyperculture trend beings back design ideas from the 90’s which look extremely retro. I would like to use this type of style with in my own work.

Dries Van Noten

Dries Van Noten S/S 2013 collection. This collection showed a interesing use of materials, prints and layering. It was inspiring to see how well different elements allowed to create a unique design.

Street Style

This photograph was taken from Marie Claire magazine, looking into street style. I have a big passion for the style and this outfit I found was well put together. The detailed jumper along with the oversized necklace looked rather dramatic. The colours used within the outfit showed off all the elements.
